One car park. Many users. One seamless solution.

The Trusts Arena car park supports a wide range of users, including members of the public, staff, tenants, tenant customers, contractors, gym members, clubs, and event attendees, all of whom have differing parking entitlements With many different groups competing for a limited number of spaces, the client needed a solution that could fairly manage access, generate revenue to help fund ongoing facility maintenance, and restore control of the car park environment. 

 

When the car park operated as a free facility, it began to experience congestion, unauthorised long-stay parking, and antisocial behaviour after hours. The client needed a future-ready solution that was easy for genuine users to understand and use, while still being robust enough to manage complex parking entitlements and effective enforcement.

The challenge
Balancing revenue, access, and control in a complex shared parking environment

The client’s objectives were threefold:​

  • Generate a new revenue stream to support ongoing facility maintenance costs

  • Ensure genuine facility users can reliably access parking

  • An end-to-end, fully managed parking solution that caters for a diverse range of stakeholders and their varied parking entitlements

The client required a free-flow parking solution with no arm barriers, supported by ANPR/LPR camera technology and a range of user-friendly payment options. Flexibility was key, particularly when it came to managing events and short-term changes to parking entitlements. Just as importantly, they wanted a fully managed, end-to-end service, from system design and installation through to day-to-day operation, enforcement, customer support via a call centre, and ongoing management, all delivered by a single provider.

The solution

A fully managed, end-to-end parking ecosystem designed for complexity

We worked closely with the client to design and implement a comprehensive parking management solution tailored to the site’s unique mix of users. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, the solution was designed around clearly defined parking entitlements for each stakeholder group, all managed through a single, integrated system.

At the heart of the solution is a free-flow parking environment, enabled by entry and exit Licence Plate Recognition (LPR) cameras. This removes the need for physical barriers while maintaining full control and high levels of compliance.

Multiple, intuitive payment options for the public

 

Casual public users can choose from several easy payment methods, ensuring a smooth experience for all users:

 

  • Solar-powered Metro Lite touch screen colour parking machines supporting pay-by-plate (PBP) payments

  • Scan2Pay QR code payment system, allowing quick, app-free payments

  • ParKiwi parking app, enabling users to start and stop parking sessions and only pay for the time used
     

Together, these options make parking simple, accessible, and friction-free.

Tailored parking options for every car park user

​

The solution supports a wide range of user groups, each with customised access rules:

  • Public: Paid parking with multiple on-site and mobile payment options
     

  • Gym members: A set amount of free parking per day, managed via the vPermit virtual permit system

  • Tenant customers: A set amount of free parking per day validated through a tablet-based self-service kiosk located at reception

  • Staff: Free parking managed via vPermit

  • Contractors: Free parking while on-site, with contractors self-managing their parking permits within defined parameters

  • Events: QR-code-based parking access issued for specific dates and time slots, allowing events to run alongside normal paid parking operations
     

This level of flexibility was key in ensuring the perfect parking solution for the Trusts Arena, ensuring each stakeholder group receives a parking experience aligned to their needs.


 

Centralised management, enforcement, and support

 

All parking activity is managed through our central management software, providing real-time visibility and control across the site. A mobile enforcement application, combined with a fully managed enforcement service, ensures strong compliance without placing any operational burden on the client.

 

We also deliver a complete car park management service, including customer support via our call centre. From payment enquiries to appeals, the entire process is managed in-house, giving the client a single, seamless point of accountability.

 

To ensure a smooth transition, our Parking Ambassadors were on-site during go-live, assisting users with the new system and helping deliver a positive experience from day one.
